Doha, Qatar – In response to reported cases of influenza A (H1N1) “swine flu” in Mexico, United States and other countries, Doha International Airport has taken proactive steps to prevent any potential spread of the virus in the State of Qatar.
Working closely with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior and the Department of Communicable Disease Control in the State of Qatar, Doha International Airport has implemented preventative and precautionary measures in the interests of the health and wellbeing of airport employees, travelling passengers and the general public of the country.
Face masks have been issued to all airport employees in customer contact roles at Doha International Airport to be worn in the event staff come into contact with passengers having fever or flu-like symptoms.
All operating carriers at Doha International Airport are taking their own precautionary measures in addressing this current health issue.
Doha International Airport strongly recommends that in the best interests of all fellow travellers and airport personnel, they refer to information available through health authorities, including the World Health Organisation at www.who.int prior to travelling.
To reduce the transmission of this virus to fellow passengers, airline crew and airport staff, Doha International Airport urges everyone to adopt strict personal hygiene controls.
If anyone at Doha International Airport develops fever or flu-like symptoms, they are advised to consult their doctor or medical practitioner straightaway. Symptoms of this A (H1N1) particular strain of flu include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, chills and fatigue.
Health authorities have advised that in the interests of personal hygiene, people should cover their mouths when coughing and sneezing; avoid touching their eyes and nose in case the virus has been transmitted, and frequently wash their hands.
