Effective June 1st 2007, and in line with the global security guidelines issued by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, all passengers flying Qatar Airways and other airlines from Doha International Airport – or transiting through Doha – will be subjected to restrictions on the carriage of certain items in their hand baggage.
The security screening measures at Doha International Airport requires all liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols to be placed in re-sealable transparent plastic bags no bigger than one litre in size.
Key Features of the Security Guidelines are:
All liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols must be carried in containers (i.e.; tubes, bottles, cans and jars) that do not exceed 100 ml in volume. Larger containers will not be accepted, even if part-filled.
These items must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 litre which equals to 20x20cm (8in x 8in). Items must fit comfortably within the transparent plastic bag which must be able to close completely.
The plastic bag must be presented for visual examination at the airport security screening point. Only one transparent plastic bag per passenger will be permitted to be carried on board.
To facilitate screening, transparent plastic bags carrying liquids, gels and aerosols must be presented separately from other cabin baggage, coats, jackets and laptop computers for X-ray screening at all screening points.
Exemptions will be made for medication, for which prescriptions / medical certificates are required. Baby milk / food and special dietary foods are also exempt
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the airport except in dedicated smoking rooms located on both upper and lower floors of the departures terminal and near the baggage reclaim hall in the arrival terminal. The Premium Terminal, which exclusively caters to Qatar Airways first and business class, also has dedicated smoking rooms. This is in compliance with Qatari Law No. 20 of 2002 which states that smoking is strictly prohibited outside of designated areas and offenders shall be charged USD 150 or imprisoned for up to 6 months or both penalties.
Photography is strictly prohibited in all security screening, customs and immigration areas.
Only passengers with a valid boarding card will be allowed access to immigration and the departures hall.
We would like to remind all our passengers that curb parking longer than two minutes is strictly prohibited in the drop off area. Legal actions will be taken against violators. If you are required to stay longer than two minutes we advise to use the short term parking opposite departure terminals where the first fifteen minutes of parking are free of charge.
